Rolled Canvas & Stretcher Bars

Stretching your own canvas from scratch gives you the freedom to design your next art piece from the ground up. Stretched canvases can be built to almost any dimensions, giving you the freedom to experiment with unique sizing, canvas material and priming processes. If you prefer a linen canvas surface for oil painting, stretching a canvas yourself is the most economical choice. Sam Flax offers rolls of 7 oz, 12 oz, and linen canvas. We also carry the canvas pliers, staplers and gesso in both black and white.

Fredrix stretcher bars are a standard-duty bar with tongue-and-groove joins that measure 1 5/8" × 11/16" with a full 1/8" tapered lip for maximum clearance. They are molded on modern woodworking machines to ensure a smooth and tight fit. Available from 8" to 60", the full size range gives you the option to stretch unique shapes custom-fit to your design specifications.

Jack Richeson stretcher bars are created in the USA by a family run company. Created with quality at the forefront, Richeson stretcher bars are created from white pine. These bars can save you money and make framing an easy and cost efficient alternative to pre-stretched canvas. Available in light-duty (for smaller sizes) and heavy-duty (to prevent warping of large sized canvas).
