    PaintsEncaustic Cakes

40 ml Small Cakes are created from beeswax, damar resin and pigments. In a molten state, it is applied to an absorbent ground and then fused, or re-melted, to acheive a range of effects, from glass-like smoothness to rich, impasto-like textures.

Pigment Oil Sticks are a high quality oil paint with just enough natural wax added to maintain a solid stick form. They can be thinned with turpentine or mineral spirits. They can be used with mediums by dipping into stand oil, linseed oil, alkyd mediums, or resin gels. They can be mixed along tube oils or used to draw over dried oil paints. Pigment Oil Sticks can be manupilated with a palette knife until the paint is a buttery consistency, so that it can be brushed or knifed onto the surface. This method can be used to mix colors on the palette or in the painting.

Blending Sticks are colorless Pigment Oil Sticks - essentially a stick without pigment. They can be worked into a color to increase its transparency or to blend two colors together on the painting.

    Tools

The Hot Shot Heat Gun is great for fusing your encaustic paintings without touching the surface. Our heat guns have dual fan speeds as well as an adjustable temperature dial. Attachments for directing and focusing heated air are available separately.

Tacking Irons are used both for fusing and manipulating the surface of your work and features a built in temperature gauge and a smooth nonstick heated surface with rounded edges.

The heated Spatula Handle plugs into the temperature regulator and has an attachment at the end for the heads to screw into. You can use one handle and interchange the heads.

Heated Tool Tips can be used to both fuse and manipulate the surface of your work. You can scribe, carve, burnish, blend, or model the wax with them. You must have a handle and temperature regulator to use this product.

The Temperature Regulator controls the temperature of the Heated Spatula. It prevents the wax from overheating. This regulator accepts one tool at a time and plugs into a regular household 120 outlet.

Palette Cups can be used to melt large amounts of paint at one time. They can be used to keep colors pure, or to save mixes that you have made. Made of a heavy aluminum and steel alloy, cups hold up to 104ml. Rectangular cups are 3 7/8" x 2 1/2".

    Accessories

Natural-Hair Brushes meet the unique demands of encaustic painting. These high quality brushes are made from natural hair, rather than synthetic fibers to prevent melting and scorching on heated surfaces. The full line includes chunking bristle brushes, bright, flat, filbert, short filbert, round and fan shapes. Each brush features a unique mid-length handle designed specifically for table-top painting on encaustic surfaces.

Raw materials, including Damar Resin, Beeswax, Paraffin, Carnauba, and Soy Waxes are available in granulated form to allow you to create custom pigments and mediums. Paraffin and Soy wax granules are also a suggested product for cleaning pigments from brushes to elongate the life of your materials.
