Mylar and Films
Drafting film (sometimes called mylar) is suitable for pen and pencil drawing and is durable, being able to withstand extensive revisions and changes. Unlike some artist paper, drafting film is dimensionally stable and unaffected by temperature and humidity. Vellum and film have excellent transparency and flatness. Drafting film is also referred to as Mylar. Drafting film is made of a polyester material and is available in a variety of thicknesses. Mylar is available in 3ml, 4ml, single matte and double matte. Canson Vidalon is a highly transparent, imported natural paper from the Canson mill in France. Natural vellum is transparentized without oil, unlike typical American-made tracing vellums. The specially developed surface is designed to take pencil or ink without smudging, yet allow repeated ghost-free erasures. Also suited for markers, holding color intensity without bleed-through. Clearprint Vellum Pads & Rolls are available in gridless, 4x4, 8x8 and 10x10 grids. Clearprint vellum comes in multiple sizes for sketching and planning, or final technical creation. Made from oil treated, rag content paper at the Crane Papermill of America, Clearprint has been a staple of the drafting industry for over 50 years. Sam Flax also stocks architectural block, graphing, graphite and tracing paper in larger sizes to accommodate professional quality technical projects and presentations. |
